About Us — More important, what’s in it for you?
Hi — thanks for stopping by. We’re still in the testing stage. Videos aren’t yet up and a few pieces are still in development. However, with Twitter going, a lot of people are dropping in and are wondering what CareerJolt is all about.
If you read for another 45 seconds, you’ll know.
CareerJolt will be of interest to three kinds of people:
1. Folks who are frontline workers in organizations both small and large. They may or may not ever own a business, and right now they just want to have the best possible experience with their current job, avoid hassles with the boss, and hopefully get ahead. They don’t need any more rah-rah speeches or empty rhetoric. They won’t find any here.
2. The business owners and managers whose job it is to create a great workplace that will keep people engaged, happy, motivated, excited — and on the payroll. Poor retention is very expensive. We help you do a better job of it. There’s no magic to it, it involves knowing more about the people you supervise and what kind of leadership works best. If you’re at all confused about today’s multi-generational workplace, we’ll help you connect better.
3. Friends of either of the above. Maybe you’re a one-person show and workplace relationships aren’t on your radar screen right now, but you know people in the first two groups. I guarantee that they’ll find ideas here that will help them at some point. Please pass the site along to them.
And, by the way, even those solo biz types will find this entire site valuable, at the point they hire their first employee.
CareerJolt will be about solving problems, but more so about preventing them. We’ll also have plenty of ideas about how to make real progress, whatever your career choice may be.
We’ll focus on answers, not attitude.
That said, we’ll have our share of fun along the way.
There will be other voices here besides mine. We hope that one of those is yours. Comments are a critical part of the exchange we want to take place. Tell us when you think we’re off base, or just expand the conversation.
We’ll tell you the truth as we know it. Sometimes it won’t come with a sugar coating. That’s okay — we’re all big people here, right?
If any of this makes sense to you, I hope you’ll subscribe to the RSS or email feed, or follow me on Twitter, I’ll do everything I can to make you glad you did.
Thanks.
Jerry Roberts
